Gabriel J. Vega
A highly motivated compassionate young professional, dedicated to making a difference in community advocacy with a particular interest in at-risk and disenfranchised groups. I am currently an unlicensed (expected: 2020) child and family therapist with an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have a focus in addiction and trauma treatment, and my future goals are to counsel children, adolescents, families, as well as LGBT individuals and groups struggling with addictions and related disorders with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an eight-phase evidence-based psychotherapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and successful outcomes are well-documented in the literature for EMDR treatment of other psychiatric disorders, mental health problems, and somatic symptoms.
My research interests include mindfulness practice, addictions treatment, EDMR advocacy and research, as well as LGBT trauma and crisis intervention.
